Relieve Pain with Root Canal Treatment
If an infected tooth is causing you discomfort, Dr. David Scurria offers advanced root canal treatment to eliminate damaged areas and preserve your oral health. The inner portion of the tooth, known as the pulp, can become infected or inflamed if the tooth structure has been compromised due to trauma, a chip or crack, or extensive decay. Root canal therapy can save your tooth and protect the longevity of your smile. To ensure your comfort during treatment, Dr. Scurria uses advanced rotary tools and the latest techniques. Over the course of his 30 year career, he has performed countless root canal procedures, and takes great pride in helping his Dublin, OH, patients achieve optimal oral health.
When a Root Canal is Necessary
Root canal therapy may be necessary if you are suffering from a dental infection. If left untreated, this type of infection can lead to more severe oral health issues, resulting in tooth loss. Our goal at Perimeter Dental Group is to detect the infection early, so you can avoid the need for more extensive restorative treatments in the future. It is important to note that not all patients with a dental infection experience tooth sensitivity or discomfort, which is why it is critical to schedule regular checkups at our dental practice to ensure your longterm oral health.
To deliver the very best service to our patients, we offer on-call, 24/7 emergency dental services.
To ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible, we can administer a local anesthetic. Once your tooth is numb, Drs. Dave and Matt Scurria can make a small opening on the surface of the tooth to access the root canals and pulp chamber. After removing the damaged pulp, he can carefully reshape the inner canals in preparation for filling. Drs. Dave and Matt Scurria can then disinfect the area, before filling the chamber with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. To seal the tooth, we can place a temporary filling, which will remain in place until your follow-up appointment. At that time, we can restore your tooth with a custom dental crown.
Virtually Painless Treatment
Patients often express hesitation when it comes to root canal treatment, out of fear that it will be painful. However, treatment is designed to relieve your discomfort from a dental infection, not aggravate it. With modern advancements in endodontics, dental technology, and techniques, we can perform virtually painless treatments. At our practice, we use modern rotary tools to improve the precision of the procedure. These endodontic tools are far more flexible than traditional manual files, enabling us to perform precise, efficient procedures. If you do experience any form of discomfort during or after treatment, it should not be any more significant than that associated with a minor procedure, such as a dental filling.
At Perimeter Dental Group, we understand that severe tooth pain and other dental emergencies must be addressed promptly. To deliver the very best service to our patients, we offer on-call, 24/7 emergency dental services.
