The Dental Veneer Treatment Process

Every cosmetic dentistry treatment starts out with a one-on-one consultation with you and one of our experienced dentists. We take the time to learn your oral hygiene habits, reactions to anesthesia and, ultimately, what will make you more confident when you smile.

The Preliminary Phase

The Preliminary Phase

  • We may take an X-Ray or another form of digital imaging to get a better look at where the veneers will be placed and how it will function with its surroundings
  • We may also take impressions of your teeth
  • The final color of the veneers will be determined

The Preparation Phase

The Preparation Phase

After local anesthetic, your dentist will remove small amounts of enamel (roughly 1/2 millimeter) from the front and sides of the tooth; this gives us room for the veneer to be placed without looking out of place or bulky with the rest of the teeth. An impression mold is then made and sent to a dental lab for the creation of the veneer. Temporary veneers are usually made to cover the teeth while your new veneers are being fabricated.

The Setting & Bonding Phase

The Setting & Bonding Phase

Upon your next visit, we will clean the placement area before setting the fabricated veneer into place. With expert precision and an experienced hand, your new porcelain veneer is then bonded to your existing tooth. This entire process can take from 2-4 weeks, from beginning to end.

What Can Porcelain Veneers Fix?

Dental irregularities can be a cause for concern, discomfort and/or self-consciousness – and veneers may be the answer to all of the above.

Porcelain veneers can help address a variety of issues, including:

  • A misaligned tooth
  • A discolored or stained tooth (or teeth)
  • A “Peg Tooth”
  • Worn-down teeth
  • Spaces or sizable gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that are irregular in shape and/or size
